As acupuncture practitioners, our assessment of a patient’s health condition is based on an energetic analysis of physiology, pathology, and treatment through acupuncture, herbal medicine, or dietary therapy.
We do not make medical diagnoses or prescribe medical diets, as these are the purview of a physician or a certified nutritionist or dietitian.
The approach to nutrition in traditional Chinese medicine takes into account various energetic or functional imbalances and suggests dietary choices to restore balance and promote health. In the event of illness, we do not recommend a fixed diet or regimen. Our advice is based on the identified energy imbalances, and based on the energetic analysis of foods, we recommend which ones to encourage and which to avoid according to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine. These recommendations, provided as part of the acupuncture consultation, are intended to enhance the effects of the energetic acupuncture treatment.
Since health conditions are linked to changing energy flows, dietary recommendations will vary. This understanding of how foods work can also promote healthy eating habits to prevent health issues, help you better adapt your diet to your energy condition, the seasons, and any imbalances you’re experiencing, and enable you to maintain or regain your vitality.
Traditionally, practitioners may offer their advice either on its own or in combination with various forms of traditional Chinese medicine, such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tuina massage, and so on. In this quest for energetic harmony with the environment—our living space and source of vitality—it is essential to prioritize local (within 15 kilometers of where you live) and seasonal foods.
For any health issues requiring medical or dietary consultation, please consult a physician or a certified nutritionist or dietitian.
